The Tiger Wellness Team, although mourning the passing of our colleague, Anne Kondax, will always remember her love of wellness.  Anne never met an organically grown food she didn't like, and her wealth of knowledge on growing healthy foods will be missed!  We'll also miss her constant advocacy for wellness with both staff and students at MSAD #46, and will do our best to honor her spirit as we move on without her. Thanks, Anne, for all that you did for us!

Welcome to the home page of the Tiger Wellness Team!

The Tiger Wellness Team is dedicated to learning about issues related to health promotion, health education and the maintenance of a healthy learning environment and seeks to promote and model healthier eating, engaging in life-long physical activity, and avoiding the use of tobacco products.

The wellness team intends to facilitate the CSHP Program and through its goals strengthen the health education in all areas for the school and community.

Great things are happening at the National Library of Medicine

It's easy to believe that your tax dollar flows into a black hole once it leaves your wallet. On May 7th, I attended a terrific presentation by Michelle Eberle, Consumer Health Coordinator for Region VIII of the National Library of Medicine. She and I have collaborated in the past on mental health and training issues. Her presentation was impressive. I have been away from the health science library field for 12 years and had no idea how far the scope and quality of consumer health services had come. I have listed several links below which lead to valuable, timely and reliable resources for anyone looking for consumer health information.

www.nlm.nih.gov Gateway to the National Library of Medicine.
pubmed.gov PubMed a great place to find current literature on medical research and treatment
medlineplus.gov Current health topics, medical encyclopedia, medical dictionary, directory of doctors, dentists and a lot more.
aidsinfo.nih.gov Up to the minute information oh HIV/AIDS.
clinicaltrials.gov Current directory of clinical trials of new medicines and treatments.
dailymed.nlm.nih.gov Current information about more than 4400 prescription drugs on the market.
http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/ Current information on genetic conditions.
http://gateway.nlm.nih.gov/gw/Cmd Gateway to searching multiple resources at the National Library of Medicine.
householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov Household products database.
http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/ Databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, environmental health, and toxic releases.
