If you want to view the legislative changes happening right now this site is it!  It includes state regulations pertaining to the National School Lunch Program, and all meal programs in Maine.

This site offers information for everyone in the "school community".  Here teachers can learn how to implement nutrition education into their curriculum, apply for funding and grants, learn to use Maine foods and help local farmers, find out about the 5 to 9 program and see what other schools in Maine are doing to involve nutrition education.  Awesome Site!

Federal

This section addresses the federal nutritional guidelines and regulations. PL 103-488 (Child Nutrition Act of 1966) and PL 108-265 Amendments to National School Lunch Act &Child Nutrition Act of 1966) are only a sample of legislation found in the following web sites. Besides finding up to date federal and state legislation you can also find sample policies to encourage healthy eating.

Appendix D-U.S. Public Law 103-448. 103d Cong., 2 Nov. 1994. Child Nutrition Act of 1966. This site also has many fast response surveys dealing with nutrition and other educational issues.

You will see legislation specific to vending machines in schools at the state level for 2005. This site also has the four states that enacted laws in 2004 regarding vending machines in schools. You are also provided with the 2003 legislative session, in which two states enacted laws regarding vending machines in schools.

Parents Advocating School Accountability is a quick hit web site that organizes national and state legislation about student nutrition from the past two years. There is a wide variety of information displayed in an easy to use format.

This site: Food and Nutrition Service, USDA, School Meals, provides Public Law 108-265 plus information about the National School Lunch Program. Other areas of interest include Summer Food Service Program, Evaluation of the USDA Fruit and Vegetable Pilot Program, and the Special Milk Program.

Healthy Schools provides sample policies to encourage healthy eating. These policies are designed for state, school district or school level use.
