"We cannot hold a torch to light another's path without brightening our own."

[Maine Literacy Partnership] [Reading Recovery]

The TumbleBookLibrary is a collection of TumbleBooks (animated, talking picture books) TumblePuzzles, and TumbleQuizzes, as well as TumbleResources for teachers. TumbleBooks are created from existing picture books which we have licensed from children's book publishers and converted to the TumbleBook format.

These Read-Alongs highlight the sentences as they are being read, turn the page automatically, and offer the ability to follow along in 3 text sizes. They also include an innovative bookmarking feature, the ability to switch to manual in order to read at your own speed, and cool color options for the skin of our new Read-Along player.

The collection features 8 categories containing nearly 125 Read-Along titles (and an additional 100 large print online titles): picture books, early readers, chapter books, middle school readers, YA/teen Novels, children's classics, classics and Shakespeare.

Read-Alongs are great for emergent, struggling, and reluctant readers, and are an excellent tool for ESL students. With a fun, stylish new interface, Read-Alongs will also appeal to accomplished readers who are excited to follow along to the narration of their favorite books. We are excited about this new service and hope you will enjoy the collection.

SAD # 46 believes that:

  • Each student has the potential to learn and succeed.

  • All students should be given an equal opportunity for an appropriate education.

Knowing that students sometimes need extra help in learning new skills, SAD #46 utilizes these programs to provide students with the opportunities to succeed:

Reading Recovery

Reading Recovery is an early intervention for children in grade one who need extra help in reading and writing. This supplemental program allows children a second chance for learning.

Maine Literacy Partnership

SAD #46 is in a partnership with the University of Maine in Orono to help provide teachers training in effective literacy practices for students in kindergarten through sixth grade.  The Literacy Partnership provides long-term professional development and systematic support for teachers who are helping children learn effective literacy skills.  The overall goal of the Maine Literacy Partnership is to raise the level of literacy achievement for students across the K-6 grade levels.
