Dexter Regional High School CSRD Grant
HELPING STUDENTS STEP INTO THE FUTURE Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration (C.S.R.D.) Grant Three Year Grant Supporting Promising Futures Dexter Regional High School 2001 - 2004 CSRD Grant Overview: (1) Aligning the school's newly developed core curriculum with the Maine Learning Results; (2) Providing professional development opportunities to support the implementation of the curriculum; (3) Providing all students with the individual support and personalized learning they need to reach their highest potential. Grant Goals: To match each student with an advisor who will guide him or her in the exploration and achievement of the Maine Learning Results (Advisor/Advisee); To engage students in setting their academic goals and assessing their progress through the use of Personalized Learning Plans, Portfolios, and Student-Led Conferences; To develop a comprehensive curriculum document, aligned with the Maine Learning Results and the school�s mission, which includes clear, measurable indicators of student performance; To develop and implement teaching strategies that support the Maine Learning Results, heterogeneous grouping, and interdisciplinary learning; To identify and implement assessment strategies that will enable teachers and students to measure learning progress and improve instructional practices; To develop and implement a structure for collaboration among teachers that promotes discussion of instructional strategies, practices, and student work (Teacher Collaboration and Teaming, Critical Friends Groups); To develop and implement a structure for collaboration among teachers, administrators, staff, students, and parents that supports all students in their effort to achieve the Maine Learning Results (Teaming of Teachers/Teaming of Students, Advisor/Advisees); To transform DRHS into a school where students of all backgrounds and abilities learn together, Personal Learning Plans reflect high expectations for all students, and the community is actively involved as a resource for learning (School to Community Programs and Community to School Programs); Increase student achievement as measured by the Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) test; (10) To develop and implement a plan to improve parental participation in their student's education and in the CSRD project (Student Led Conferences).
