Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character." -Margaret Chase Smith SAD # 46 is located in Penobscot County, Maine, in the area known as the "Maine Highlands".  SAD #46 provides for the education of pupils in the towns of Dexter, Exeter, Garland, Ripley. SAD #46 operates the following schools*:   Enrolled Pupils Grades   Dexter Primary School 296 K-4 Garland Elementary School 61 K-2 Exeter Consolidated School 48 3-5 Dexter Middle School 278 5-8 Dexter Regional High School 383 9-12 The above table includes all resident pupils who were attending these schools on October 1, 2004. In addition, these counts include some pupils who do not reside in the school unit, but attend these schools; their tuition charges are paid by the school unit where they live.
